“A rousing performance”: Prom reviews

Maxime’s Late Night Prom with Jarvis Cocker and the BBC Philharmonic was, in more ways than one, a very special event. Its content kept well under wraps, no one knew quite what to expect. In the end, the audience of the Royal Albert Hall was taken on a dramatic and wondrous underwater journey, exploring the depths of both the ocean and our unconscious.

The concert can be heard in its entirety on the BBC iPlayer.

With music by Wagner, Debussy, as well as songs by The Beatles and Tim Buckley, and much more, this “Wireless Nights” Prom drew many enthusiastic reviews, as can be seen by clicking on the following links:

“A rousing performance” – Classical Diary (4/5 stars)

“Elegant and dreamlike” – The Guardian (4/5 stars)

“Humour and beauty” – Evening Standard (4/5 stars)

“An immersive night” – The Independent (4/5 stars)
